Machine Learning Stack Expert

As Machine Learning Stack Expert you are the key link between Software Engineering and Data Science: On the one hand, you are responsible for providing a meaningful stack that drives machine learning and operational tasks in our Data Science team forward. On the other hand, you support our Software Team in embedding and using all relevant components.

Your tasks

  • You are responsible for building and managing an ML environment ready for production (architecture, tools, frameworks, etc.)
  • You choose and release the technical infrastructure that is necessary for running data science-crafted components based on the ML stack (dashboards, alerting, metrics, logging, etc.)
  • You provide a technical infrastructure for research & development of Machine Learning (cloud infrastructure, data warehouse, data and training pipelines, etc.)
  • You align technical infrastructures between our Data Science team and Software Engineering.
  • You support our teams in Software Engineering and in Data Science with regard to using the ML environment.
  • You implement and release planned changes to the ML stack.
  • You share your know-how and communicate Best Practices as well as Design Patterns for ML software architectures.

Your profile

  • You successfully completed your studies in Informatics or Software Engineering.
  • You have already 8+ years of experience in software development with 3+ years working on software architectures.
  • You are experienced in dealing with infrastructures regarding CI/CD, logging, metrics and/or APM.
  • You have a solid theoretical background and experience in machine learning (e.g. random forests, deep learning, time series models, NLP).
  • You are experienced in working with cloud providers such as the Google Cloud Platform.
  • You are an expert in Java 8 and/or Scala – ideally, you are also skilled in Python, PySpark, Spark or Flink.
  • You are highly solution-oriented and capable of thinking strategically – enabling you to push our cloud architecture and rollout processes to the next level.
  • You have an eye for quality and output and enjoy working in a highly motivated team that offers you lots of freedom for your individual development.
  • You have good communication skills, in English as well, and like collaborating with multiple stakeholders in a professional setup.

Technologies we use

Our software is primarily running on Google Cloud and Kubernetes. Keeping track with the latest developments, we use state-of-the-art tools such as Terraform, Kustomize, Helm, Prometheus, Grafana, MySql, Postgres, GitLab, TeamCity and other services based on Google Cloud. For our applications, we rely on Scala, Cloudflow, Java, Typescript, Groovy, Node, MySql, Akka, Spring Boot, Gradle, Spock Framework, Angular, GraphQL and more.

For legal reasons, we refer to the collective agreement minimum salary of EUR 3,186 (14 x per year) for this position. The actual salary depends on your qualification and experience, a willingness to overpay is given.
