We at Whoop! love statistics. Not because we’re pure nerds, instead our predictive bidding algorithm wants to be fed with statistical and historical data. If you deal with AdWords or Google Shopping too (which is a perfect example for practical use of Data Science), you should know how important statistics and Data Science are. This should be reason enough to celebrate the World Statistics Day 2015. BTW: The last one was 2010 and this year’s slogan is:
Better Data. Better Lifes.
Ban Ki Moon and the United Nations see statistics and Data Science as a way to make problems and solutions visible.
Please support them!

Here Are Our Personal Favorites
1. Film: “Don’t Panic — End Poverty”

There is a nice discussion on Quora about Probability Statistics with a lot of well known experts:
3. What do you learn from p=.05? This example from Carl Morris will blow your mind.
For real Data Science nerds 🙂
It might get you a publication in Psychological Science or the tabloids but that’s about it.
4. Reading List of the Oxford University Press
You can find a good reading list on the official blog of the Oxford University Press. One of the our favorites: “Analyzing Wimbledon”: http://blog.oup.com/2015/10/world-statistics-day
